Forester
This client specializes in processing raw timber for high-quality construction materials, including roof trusses, engineered joists, and timber frame housing. Their customer base includes leading building contractors, and they are committed to sustainable sourcing and responsible forestry management.
The Role
As a Forester, you will play a key role in sourcing and managing forestry lots across Leinster, Connacht, and Munster, ensuring a consistent supply of quality timber for the sawmill.
You will be responsible for:
- Site Visits & Valuation-Travel to privately owned and Coillte-managed forestry lots to assess and measure timber quality, acreage, and overall value.
- Timber Procurement-Identify and secure forestry lots that meet supply needs while negotiating the best pricing for the company.
- Harvesting & Haulage Oversight - Manage and coordinate harvesting and transportation operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to best forestry practices.
Requirements
🔹 Experience in forestry management, procurement, or timber valuation.
🔹 Knowledge of the Irish forestry sector, including regulations and industry standards.
🔹 Strong analytical skills to assess tree quality and forest value.
🔹 Willingness to travel regularly to sites across Leinster, Connacht, and Munster.
🔹 Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
🔹 Ability to work independently while collaborating with suppliers and contractors.
