Construction Plant Fitter - Galway

Permanent | Full-time | Field-Based

The Company

Our client is a long‑established and recognised leader within the materials handling and plant equipment sector. They provide sales, rental, service, and repair solutions to customers across construction, manufacturing, and retail environments. With a strong local presence and a sizeable engineering workforce, they are known for stability and high service standards.

Due to continued service demand, our client is now seeking a Construction Plant Fitter to join their field service team based in Galway.

The Role

The successful candidate will operate as part of a regional field service team, carrying out service, repair, and maintenance work on plant and materials handling equipment at customer sites. • Diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic faults efficiently
  • Carrying out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Returning to the depot as required for parts and job coordination
  • Completing service documentation accurately and professionally
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5:30pm and Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, with an optional on‑call rota.

The Candidate

Our client is seeking a practical, mechanically minded engineer with:

  • A trade qualification (plant fitter, mechanic, or similar)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience with plant, agricultural, or construction machinery
  • Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills
  • Willingness to work in a field‑based service role
  • A proactive, reliable attitude and good customer‑facing skills
  • Full driving licence

Candidates from plant, agricultural, or automotive mechanical backgrounds will be considered.

  • Salary: €40,000 - €50,000
  • Pension: Private pension available
  • Vehicle: Company van provided
  • Overtime: Paid at time and a half
