The Role: As a Commercial Graduate Trainee you will learn all about the company, its products, the market, while benefiting from continuous 'on the job' training. Furthermore, you will receive extensive professional sales training to equip you with all of the tools and skills required to thrive in a successful sales career. Each of the 300+ trading locations are known as a 'Profit Centres'. These are effectively run as individual businesses. Each Profit Centre manager has the authority to make all business decisions and is therefore accountable for their own profit and loss. This includes sales, margin, stock, administration and recruitment.   Requirements for this Commercial Trainee Role:

  • This role requires you to work 1 out of 4 Saturday mornings

As a Graduate Commercial Trainee, the package you will receive is:
  • £25,000-£27,000 base salary

  What will you do? Day 1: You will be based in a Profit Centre and will complete the induction. This will fully integrate you into the team, highlight your responsibilities and help you gain industry experience. Month 1-3: You will be spend your time in the warehouse, where you will learn about the products, common orders, margin opportunities, how to maximise sales and the systems. Month 4-6: You will be at the trade counter and begin to interact with customers in person. This is where you will hone your confidence and selling skills. Month 7-12: Majority of your time will be spent in a Profit Centre learning about relevant sales and products. There will also be shadowing opportunities within the larger business' support functions. After a year you should be consistently bringing in sales and new clients. You will then advance to an external sales role, where you will spend most of your time with clients, working towards sales targets and developing your leadership skills. No two days are the same at UKPS; you can look forward to breakfast with customers, external events, supplier trade days and much more. It's a really fun and interesting place to work.
