Business Development Manager

  • Leading national tyre wholesale and distribution company
  • Part of a multinational group
  • Autonomous role covering central belt to borders working with an existing customer base
  • Full portfolio of leading brand products to sell

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visit customers to open accounts and develop business in a professional manner
  • Generate and increase sales among customer base
  • Achieve set monthly targets
  • Understanding the area to identify potential new business opportunities
  • Have a short, medium and long term strategy for customers and area
  • Build long term trusting relationships with customers
  • Develop existing customer base through sales support initiatives
  • Undertake and maintain training as required. Keeping up to date with new products and services
  • Keep up to date with relevant market information e.g. competitor activity, market trends
  • Help customers develop their digital platforms/offer

Key Requirements

  • Sales skills - Discuss opportunities using multiple sales techniques
  • Effective and structured planning of visits and sales strategy
  • Able to overcome objections effectively
  • Great Communication skills
  • Hold a valid UK driving license
  • Reasonable level of IT ability - Able to use different IT systems
  • Able to demonstrate value driven negotiation skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Highly motivated and driven to succeed

  • To exercise common sense and perseverance
  • Ability to develop specific plans to ensure growth both long and short term
